In Russia, it is necessary to abandon the practice of speed camera ambushes, as well as make other changes to the rules for placing individual automated systems on the road.

With such a proposal, the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Pavel Krupnik, turned to the head of the traffic police, Mikhail Chernikov.

The parliamentarian notes that he receives many messages from motorists who are concerned about the too strict and illogical placement of individual traffic control installations. Many car owners believe that cameras are sometimes installed not to prevent accidents, but as traps.

The illogical placement of systems could lead to an emergency situation, Krupnik believes, and suggests that they be omitted, especially on dedicated lanes for overtaking and advancing outside settlements and sections of road with a high accident rate.

According to him, operators should also indicate their presence on the road by turning on a blue-red flashing light.
