AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov spoke at parliamentary sessions in the Federation Council against state support for projects with low localization in the automotive industry, informs TASS.

According to him, the opening of Chinese automakers to the Russian market could have a negative impact on the purchase of Russian auto components and the achievement of technological dominance.

“The problem is that many manufacturers say that such an under-localized assembly should receive government support. And it is usually quite on par with local manufacturers. Of course, we categorically object to it,” he said.

If budget funds are allocated to support such projects, it will turn out that they will go abroad, where the main surplus value of such cars is created.

“And for some reason they go abroad, that is, for Chinese manufacturers, who are expanding into our market and “eating” the share of Russian automakers from the pie, “the head of AvtoVAZ emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that he is not against competition and that the assembly of cars with low localization of production as a business model has a right to exist.

It became known that earlier he was the head of AvtoVAZ. declaration on running out of funds for preferential car loans when buying gasoline cars.
