Military historians trace the evolution of Russian pontoon parks from the time of Dmitry Donskoy – on the way to Kulikovo Field, his army crossed the Don along floating bridges.

Methods and methods of crossing rivers have been continuously improved since then.

Today our engineering forces are equipped with an impressive number of different technical means of personnel crossing and almost every mobile and heavy equipment.

Ferry facilities are divided into two major groups: amphibious crossing facilities and pontoon parks.

The first includes mobile vehicles – floating caterpillar transporters, ferries, landing boats. They, as a rule, provide rapid transfer of forward units. But they also participate in the construction and maintenance of stationary crossings.

Pontoon parks allow you to build floating bridges and assemble ferries – depending on what is required to complete a specific combat mission.

And the evolution continues. The main directions of modern developments of ferry facilities are to reduce their weight, increase their carrying capacity and automate processes. They try to use light alloys and composite materials.

Lighter weight simplifies delivery and installation, high load capacity increases throughput, automation speeds crossing – all for speed.

The famous Suvorov victory formula “Eye, Speed, Attack!” no one canceled.
