Exports of used cars from the Republic of Korea to Russia will grow 12.6 times (monetarily) in 2022 compared to the previous year, the newspaper Chungan Ilbo wrote, citing data from the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) .
In 2021, used cars from Korea were sold in Russia for $45.34 million, and in 2022 already for $572.76 million.

The number of vehicles delivered increased 8.3 times: from 2,358 vehicles in 2021 to 19,626 in 2022.
The owner of a company that sells used cars, Shin Hyun Do, explains this increase by the fact that from the second quarter of 2022, American and European car manufacturers were no longer allowed to export products to Russia, so used cars were brought from Japan and Korea.
In 2021, the average price of a car imported to Russia from the Republic of Korea was $19.2 thousand, and in 2022 it was already $29.2 thousand.
Recall that the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg stopped working in March last year, the formal reason was the difficulty with the supply of components due to sanctions. In December, there were reports that the company was resuming work and producing bodies for Hyundai Solaris, but they are exclusively for the Kazakhstan assembly site.
