Head of the Emergency Driver Training Center “MasterClass” Alexei Kolontay warned that metal bracelets on the arm, as well as other accessories, such as hairpins, glasses and rings, could cause serious injury in the event of an accident.

For example, in such a situation, a hairpin can be in a certain position and get stuck in the head with a sharp edge, the driving instructor warned.

A metal bracelet can also dig into the skin and cut through the veins. Any metal or glass object that is on a person or hangs from a dashboard can become a source of trouble,” Kolontai explained.

Glasses can also cripple the driver if, for example, the airbags deploy at the time of the accident. Since the airbag deploys in a fraction of a second, it may have time to hit the glasses and the fragments could injure the driver. It is safer to put glasses on the tip of the nose so that they have time to fly away in the event of a collision. But that is no guarantee against injury, the expert laments.
