January dips – these car brands are falling out of the market

The Russian car market fell by 63.1% in January 2023. This means that 55,537 fewer cars were sold than in January 2022. As a result, only 32,499 people bought a new car.

This is the AEB data, which does not include sales statistics for BMW and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Chery and Cheryexeed.

The biggest drop in sales Honda, whose dealers sold only one car per month, while 87 cars were sold in January 2022. This is a decrease of 99%.

On the second place – Lexus with five cars sold instead of last year’s 563. And this too is a drop of 99%. Bee Toyota, which took third place, is doing better – 60 cars sold. But a year ago, dealers sold 6126 Toyotas, so the drop was also 99%.

The top five in terms of declining sales are also included hyundai (-98%) and Suzuki (-95%).

It should be noted that 17 brands did not sell a single car at all in January. This Porsche, Mitsubishi, Iveco, Fiat, Evolute, Brilliance, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Foton, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lifan, Nissan, Renault, Volvo And Crazy.

In the Russian market, thanks to the new management of AVTOVAZ, which does not allow downtime of the enterprise, dominates Lada. Despite a market decline of 63.1%, Lad sales fell only 3% to 17,468 vehicles.

If you don’t count Cherywhose sales are not reported, only three brands turned out to be positive in January, and even that was due to a “low start” (low sales volumes) a year ago.
