It seems like an obvious fact: it is dangerous to go out on the ice! This is only possible in those places where there are special crossing points. But fans of winter fishing and extreme sports, who like to ride on snowy reservoirs, do not stop there.
Emergencies Ministry employees are asking everyone to learn important safety rules and give advice on what to do if you are in a car that sinks through the water.
First of all, do not panic: calmness is the main assistant here. The car can float for several minutes. This time should be sufficient for a safe evacuation.
If you are driving on ice and hear a characteristic creak, immediately leave the salon. If the car goes under the ice – do not worry, but carefully try to surface.
For rescue it is better to open the side windows and climb through them.
Grab a firm grip on the handlebars to avoid being swept away by the sudden movement of the water. And if you entered the water with your head, look for a bright spot and the direction where the air bubbles go: there is an open polynya.
If you managed to get out of the car, you need to follow the trail of your car – the ice there is absolutely strong.
