At the same time, you should keep your phone at a distance of about 30 cm from the car door.
And supposedly you can open the car. It’s hard to believe, but what if? After all, you always want to hope for a miracle and find yourself in a difficult situation.
We asked our expert to put this advice into practice.
Expert answer
Alexey Revinexpert “Behind the wheel”:
— The smartphone is used in the “lifehack” as a voice transmission device. After all, according to the condition, we just called someone from home. That’s one microphone smartphone detects air vibrations and transfer to another device. In addition, regardless of the price of the smartphone, the sound is transmitted in a rather narrow range of 300-8000 Hz.
But why even such a sound, if we just pressed the button on the key, which is responsible for unlocking the locks? There is no sound, nothing to send and nothing to receive on your smartphone next to a locked car. And this “nothing” will certainly not be able to open the car.
To clear his conscience, he conducted an experiment on a neighbor on the porch. He stood in front of his window and, talking to me, pressed a button on the key. At that moment I was near my locked car. And suddenly, behold, the car opened!
Not believing themselves, they began to figure it out and realized that the range of the key from the window, when parked cars and various buildings do not interfere with the signal, turns out to be more than at the entrance. And the signal from the key simply “ends” to the car.
Then, with the second key, I drove the car to a neighboring yard and continued to communicate with a neighbor by phone. But now he couldn’t open or close the door locks. And no wonder!
Our verdict (and advice)
It doesn’t work xBut of course you can try. And now a very handy tip from our expert. If you use the car alone, take a second key with you. Just don’t keep it next to the first – put it somewhere else: in another pocket or in a bag.
By the way, this will save you trouble if the battery in the key runs out, which happens much more often in winter, in the cold.
