The car owner drove in the left lane, did not change lanes in time, and at some point it became impossible to go straight on this lane – the markings changed, and it was intended only for those who turn left.
The driver had to go straight, so he broke the rules for driving along the track and, when the green light came on (to move forward), he went straight.
At the same time, however, an additional traffic light, which allowed you to turn left, prohibited movement. And since the car was in the lane while driving, where only left turns were allowed, the video camera saw that the driver ran a red light. His algorithm stipulates that you are only allowed to turn left in this lane with the correct traffic light signal.
Running a red light is a more serious violation than a lane violation, so the driver protested the penalty.
However, the courts of first, second and third instance upheld it. And only the Supreme Court discovered the intricacies of this violation.
Supreme Court ruling
The Sun explained that the driver violated the requirements of the traffic rules on the track, but not the traffic light requirements. An additional part of the traffic light prohibits movement in one direction, but not in other directions.
Thus, the driver moved towards the traffic light signal, albeit from the lane, which is only intended for turning left. But this is another offense and no one tried to present it to the driver.
Since all time limits had expired, the Supreme Court overturned the decisions of the lower courts and dismissed the case after the statute of limitations expired.
