Since January 11, automatic cameras can be used in Russia to punish offenders who throw garbage from a car, truck or trailer on the side of the road or in the forest. The fine for this violation, according to the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, ranges from 5,000 to 200,000 rubles, depending on whether the person or legal entity committed the violation, as well as other parameters.

“From a technical point of view, photo-video fixation complexes can be taught to detect even garbage thrown out of a car window along the way, including a cigarette butt, a plastic cup and much more. The resolution of the cameras allows you to capture the object itself, and the trajectory of its movement, and sometimes even a person’s face if necessary,” – explained in the association of manufacturers and operators of photo and video recording systems.

At the same time, it is premature to talk about the launch of photo and video recordings of such crimes, since clear requirements for the evidence base have not yet been developed. So far, none of the regions of Russia have expressed their willingness to take advantage of this opportunity.
