In winter, cars are often stolen using electronic alarm hacking, says Andrey Kondrashov, an anti-theft security specialist.
According to the expert, it happens like this: the owner opens the car and starts the engine, then wipes snow from the body, but the doors suddenly close, because the alarm code has already been stolen by the code grabber.
“When he (the car owner) initially switches off the car, the alarm code is intercepted by hijackers who are nearby, within a radius of 50 meters,” explains the expert.
If the car is locked, the driver usually goes home to get a second key. Here the thieves appear. The car often disappears together with the mobile phone in the cabin and documents. Kondrashov advises not to leave a moving car unattended if the doors suddenly close.
“Not all alarms are susceptible to such hacking, devices that support a conversation code with individual encryption keys are not susceptible to it,” the specialist added.
