The secret is simple: equipping equipment with dynamic protection. These are the same stones that you have seen more than once on the armor of tanks and other combat vehicles.
Today they are equipped with all armored vehicles sent to the NVO zone.
There are many dynamic security systems, but they all work on the same principle: they are sandwiches packed in a special container, in which explosives are hidden between two steel plates.
When a projectile hits the sandwich, it fires the explosive into the remote sensing system and throws the blast wave off the projectile with its blast wave. That is, the projectile ultimately does not reach the armor.
When dynamic protection first appeared, it was a breakthrough: the penetrating power of cumulative ammunition decreased by 50-80%, and they became less dangerous for armored vehicles.
Today’s newest DZ is Malachite, developed for the Armata platform. Her sandwiches are undermined even before she has physical contact with the projectile. It turns out a kind of preemptive shot at a projectile flying into the armor.
“The protection of a modern tank is a whole complex, which consists directly of armor, active and dynamic protection systems, the erection of smoke screens,” Colonel General Sergei Maev, former head of the Main Armored Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, told RIA Novosti. – There is also a special material “Cape”, which absorbs radar radiation. The highlight of all this is the system of destructive active protection. We are pioneers in this field. The technology was much sought after by the Israelis and the Americans.”
