Evgeny Ufimtsev, President of the All-Russian Association of Insurers (VSS), said in an interview: Izvestiathat next year it is planned to launch a mechanism for checking the existence of an OSAGO policy using traffic cameras in the Russian Federation.

He pointed out that VSS has repeatedly suggested to start checking OSAGO policies through cameras.

“But so far, only experiments and pilot projects have been done. By next year, comprehensive policy checks should be launched through traffic cameras. So in 2023, drivers without OSAGO will begin to be fined with cameras, ”said Ufimtsev.

He also said that the union is discussing with the Central Bank of Russia the extension of some measures to support insurers for 2023, as well as the introduction of a number of innovations. Among other things, the insurers offer to increase the repair period of OSAGO from 30 days to 60 days and legalize the use of used spare parts everywhere.

“There will still be difficulties in 2023, so the repair period of OSAGO needs to be increased to 60 days and the use of used parts is allowed,” said Ufimtsev.

According to him, this should also be done because moving components to old cars is economically unprofitable, “therefore there will be a shortage of spare parts.”

Previously, St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Igor Vysotsky and Anastasia Melnikova took the initiative. significantly increase fines for drivers for not holding an OSAGO policy.
