Sergey Shabunin, the chief receiver of the Veshnyaki Avto technical center, advised to warm up such cars in winter at idle until the heating radiator in the car starts working and supplies warm air to the passenger compartment.
“A diesel engine is considered warm by the time the stove starts working – I always advise you to determine it based on this. Engines reach operating temperature at 50-60 degrees. On some machines, the rpm rises to the so-called warm-up mode at start-up and later drops from 1100-1200 rpm to 700-800 rpm, for example, he explained.
The expert considers the installation of a preheater to be the best option for diesel cars. In this case, when the driver approaches the car, his engine is already relatively warm due to the heating of the cooling system.
