The main causes of traffic accidents in Russia this year were four traffic violations: inconsistency of speed with certain traffic conditions, violation of the rules for crossing intersections, crossing into the opposite lane and choosing the wrong distance. In total, since the beginning of the year, more than 19.5 thousand accidents related to violations of intersection rules have been registered (6.5% less than last year). 845 people were killed and more than 27,000 injured in such accidents.
Approximately 9.5 thousand crashes were associated with crossing lane (8.7% reduction). The wrong distance chosen by drivers led to 11.5 thousand accidents (more than 9% reduction).
The ministry said that for the 11 months of 2022, the total number of traffic accidents decreased by 5.2 percent, the number of deaths in these accidents – 5.7 percent and the number of injured – by 5.3 percent (compared to the same period of last year). .
