Another driver’s death has been recorded due to Takata airbag failure. This is the fourth death this year and the 23rd overall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The NHTSA said the cause of death was a faulty Takata side airbag inflator that exploded in the crash. A 2002 Honda Accord was involved in the accident.
Acting NHTSA Administrator Ann Carlson is urging car owners to thoroughly inspect their Takata airbags and make free repairs once they are found to be faulty.
