Negotiations have begun between Rostec and Daimler AG to acquire a stake in KAMAZ, owned by the German group. We are talking about a significant share of 15%. This was stated by the head of the state-owned enterprise Sergei Chemezov.
Daimler Truck, previously owned by Daimler AG, has decided to discontinue operations in Russia, putting the joint venture with KAMAZ in a difficult position.
Daimler Truck therefore made sure to sell its stake in KAMAZ as quickly as possible. But at the same time, only Russian companies can buy it, because foreign companies are afraid of sanctions.
Renault found itself in the same situation and was forced to sell its stake in AVTOVAZ in order not to be subject to sanctions.
KAMAZ has already drawn up an action plan to overcome the crisis: temporarily more vehicles with Euro-5 engines will roll off the production line and by the end of the year a new fully localized Euro-5 engine with 500 hp will appear. . The production of modern trucks of the K5 generation is also being localized.
