Drivers transporting goods or passengers must undergo pre-flight screening in person or via telemedicine. The Government of the Russian Federation is preparing amendments that determine who should go to the doctor and who should be monitored by video link.
It was initially believed that anyone could use telemedicine, but now those drivers who:
- carry passengers over a distance of more than 300 km;
- transports organized groups of children;
- supplies dangerous goods.
Such drivers will have to be personally examined by a doctor.
The rest will be able to communicate with the doctor via the computer screen. At least twice a year should be checked for alcohol and drugs in the blood.
“The use of telemedicine technologies in conducting medical examinations of drivers will increase their availability and reduce the financial and time costs of enterprises,” said Vladimir Gruzdev, representative of the Russian Bar Association.
