A fragment of the battle has been posted on the Ministry of Defense website.
Our armored personnel carrier managed to capture an entire enemy combat vehicle.
Let’s compare the designs of these armored personnel carriers and their weapons. And let’s analyze how our fighters could win.
BTR-82A
BTR-82A is a mobile combat vehicle with an energy-intensive suspension.
Domestic armored personnel carrier with an 8×8 wheel arrangement entered service in 2013. It is a thorough modernization of the BTR-80, which has been serving in our army since 1986.
The “eighty”, in turn, is a descendant of the 60th and 70th families originally from the USSR. True, from the ancestors of the mid-60s, the modern armored personnel carrier has only one concept left.
With numerous upgrades, the hull was redesigned several times and the armor was strengthened, the landing method changed, instead of two gasoline engines, one diesel engine appeared with a corresponding change in transmission. The specific power, power reserve, maximum speed has become higher.
The changes affected anti-fragmentation and mine protection, chassis, reliability of many components and their resources, means of communication, observation and orientation, patency, survivability, ventilation systems and autonomy (an autonomous diesel generator was installed to power the parking lot).
The workplace of the driver of an armored passenger car with steering wheel and pedals, as in a conventional car.
The troop compartment in the armored personnel carrier is located in the middle section. Anti-mine mats are laid on the floor, the armor is lined with multi-layer Kevlar anti-fragmentation protection.
The task of the light armored combat vehicle is to deliver motorized gunners to their destination and to provide fire support. The fundamental innovations of the BTR-82A are precisely connected with weapons. The development of domestic armored personnel carriers has evolved from a gun turret with a pair of large caliber 14.5 mm and conventional 7.62 mm machine guns to a remote-controlled weapons module.
Our BTR-82A has a powerful machine gun and cannon armament and modern sights.
On the BTR-82A, the uninhabited BM-1 complex with a 30-mm 2A72 rapid-fire gun and a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun was mounted. The armament is stabilized in two planes, which has significantly increased the effectiveness of firing on the move compared to its predecessors. In addition, modern sights are mounted in the module, which allows you to shoot 24 hours a day in any weather.
YPR-765
YPR-765 is a combat vehicle belonging to the category of tracked armored personnel carriers.
The Dutch tracked armored car was created on the basis of the YPR-765 PRI infantry fighting vehicle with cannon armament. Served in the Dutch Army since 1975.
Copies from storage are delivered to the CBO zone. The technique is not the first freshness, but this is not a full pedigree. All representatives of the YPR family are modified versions of the American M-113A1 tracked transporters of the 1964 model, which in turn are a further development of the M-113 of the 1960 model.
YPR body made of welded aluminum armor. In the middle part of the hull of the YPR-765 there is a fighting compartment, in the stern there are landing places. They exit the YPR via hydraulically operated ramps that fold down. In addition, it also offers a regular door.
Diesel V-shaped “six” Detroit Diesel is located to the right in front of the driver. The transmission is a three-speed Allison automatic. The floating movement of the combat vehicle causes the tracks to rewind (against the water jet propulsion of the armored personnel carrier).
YPR driver’s seat with levers, like in a tank. The engine compartment is on the right.
The landing takes place via a folding ramp in the stern or a normal door.
The transporter’s armament is a large caliber 12.7mm M2 machine gun designed by John Browning. It has been in massive use since the 1930s and has long been NATO’s main heavy machine gun.
Browning M2 is mounted on a turret in a small turret, which is basically a set of shields that cover the gunner from bullets and shrapnel. You can’t call it a full-fledged tower, but it’s better than nothing.
The Dutch armored car is armed with a 12.7 mm Browning machine gun. The gunner is protected by a small armored turret without a roof.
YPR-765 (like all M-113 clones) are not antiques, but battle ready vehicles still in service with many states. The design of the M-113 proved so successful that it became the most mass-produced light armor in the world.
Upgraded on time
In this duel, each participant’s weapons break through the other’s defenses. The bulletproof armor of the BTR-82A cannot withstand a heavy machine gun, and the YPR-765 steel and aluminum “sandwich” is powerless against the armor-piercing shells of the Russian cannon.
Q: Who shoots faster and more accurately?
And here the advantage lies on the side of our armored personnel carrier, equipped with a modern combat module. From the point of view of long-range aimed fire, weapons with electric drive, stabilization and a two-channel sight are much more effective than a turret-mounted machine gun.
By the way, the enemy car was captured after one of the tracks was damaged – it lost its course and was left behind by the crew. The armored personnel carrier, with a damaged or even torn off wheel, retains its mobility.
The saturation of our troops with modernized armored personnel carriers with machine gun and gun modules arrived on time. If instead of the BTR-82A, for example, the BTR-80 with a simpler sight and manual guidance of a heavy machine gun, it would be difficult to predict the outcome of this duel.

Requires 7,000 tires in popular sizes
Without ties, public order cannot be guaranteed, medical care cannot be provided to those who need it.
“Behind the wheel” together with the Popular Front began to collect funds that will be used to purchase tires for cars of the People’s Police and operational services of the LPR and DPR: ambulances, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, vehicles delivering humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of Donbass, and army equipment.
