If the cold overtook the car and it began to freeze, then there are ways to solve the problem. Auto expert Ilya Ivansky spoke about it.
Usually the car freezes for several reasons:
- From freezing rain
- After washing in cold weather with poor drying
- Due to sudden changes in temperature, when the thermometer’s needle passes through the zero mark.
So that the rubber seals on the trunk or doors do not freeze, you need to lubricate them with auto chemicals containing silicone.
“After driving in sub-zero temperatures, it pays to ventilate the car so that there is no moisture in it. It is always better to keep the windscreen dry, especially for a long parking space, so that the moisture on it does not turn into ice in the cold,” says the specialist.
If the car is still icy, you don’t need to pour hot water on it – the glass may crack and the body paint may be damaged. Use plastic glass cleaning brushes and special defrosters.
The best tactic is to put the car in a garage or underground parking garage. A roof wouldn’t be the worst solution either.
