The point is that the demand for cars from the secondary market has decreased by more than 20%. In total, just over 459 thousand cars were sold in September 2022.

Lada remains the most popular brand in the secondary market, according to an Avtostat study, cited by RG. But the demand for it also fell by 23.6%. In total, 106.4 thousand Frets were resold in September.

The most popular foreign cars on the secondary market are still Toyotas, of which 52,000 units were resold. But here too, demand fell, albeit only by 14.1%.

In third and fourth place in terms of demand, Hyundai and kiaof which demand fell by 20.3% and 22.4% respectively.

Close the top five Nissan cars, which began to buy less often by 20.1%.

It should be noted that the most popular cars in the secondary market were cars under 7 years (92% of total sales). As a result, their prices will fall less due to falling demand. To a greater extent, cars older than 8 years, which are much harder to sell, should become cheaper.

“The declining sales of used cars can be explained by several reasons. It is possible that some consumers refused to buy because they expected changes in the domestic car market: the emergence of new brands, deliveries to the country through parallel imports of well-known brands. It is possible that some consumers refuse to buy cars because they were not satisfied with the price, and they have used the money for other purposes,” comments Dmitry Baranov, a leading expert at Finam Management, on the situation in the market.

Experts also say that a pent-up demand for cars is beginning to emerge. One day it will “shoot” and sales will increase. But this will not happen until the market is saturated with cars at affordable prices for the population.
