Apple has removed the AirPods Pro headphones’ noise canceling settings from Control Center, forcing users to switch to Transparency mode. The portal reports this 9to5Mac.
Previously, users could switch between four listening modes: Off, Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency, and Adaptive. Apple removed the Off option in the iOS 18 update, leaving only three modes, which caused dissatisfaction among many users.
9to5Mac explained that you can return to this option by opening “Settings” – AirPods; here you need to select “Listening Mode: Off” at the bottom. After that, the “Off” option will appear again in the control center.
However, AirPods Pro 2 users who upgraded to iOS 18.1 and later encountered another problem: AirPods automatically activates Transparency mode due to its hearing protection feature when using headphones.
To disable this, you need to go to “Settings” – “Accessibility” and then click on “Turn off loud sounds”.
