Apple patented the design of the Vision Pro helmet, which was released in 2024, 15 years ago. The portal reports this MacWorld.
Journalist Dan Moren discovered a patent in the archives dated November 2008 that describes a device that resembles the Vision Pro augmented and virtual reality headset.
Judging by the image, the Vision Pro, developed more than 15 years ago, has a similar shape and design to the modern model. The patent states that the device can simulate the experience of being in a virtual environment by using smart sensors that track head and eye movements.
The journalist was surprised that Apple had been working on his helmet for so long. He stated in 2008 that the company technically could not create such a device because high-resolution displays were not available at the time.
He also emphasized that if Apple finds an idea attractive, it will continue working on it and will not release the device until the time is right.
Apple Vision Pro was first introduced at WWDC in June 2023. At the beginning of February this year, the device went on sale in the US and later in other markets. However, the high price and other factors prevented the helmet from becoming a mass product.
Previously in Russia presented Exclusive Apple Vision Pro helmet for 2 million rubles.
