Igor Kashpur, deputy head of the Department of Information Technologies, Communications and Information Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that servers equipped with Russian Elbrus microprocessors fail very quickly and cannot be replaced immediately. The newspaper writes about this “Vedomosti”.
According to Kashpur, the use of equipment based on Elbrus revealed low reliability, but the manufacturer is not ready to provide working servers. MCST responded by saying that all existing processors have already been deployed and new ones have not yet been produced.
The deputy head of the Information Technologies Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the ministry purchased 709 servers with Elbrus processors from 2020 to 2024, 32 of which this year. They are used to operate services for recording administrative offenses in the field of traffic with a special software “Web”, as well as a single source of information on immigration registration.
At the end of September, academician Gennady Krasnikov, president of the Russian Academy of Sciences said socialbites.ca says that domestic ninety-nanometer dual-core Elbrus processors are now produced at the Mikron factory.
