Smart TVs will receive Android updates more frequently 12:01

Google plans to move to a two-year update cycle for its smart TV platform, which has previously been updated less frequently. about this reports Android Police portal.

In 2024, Google released Android TV 14, skipping Android TV 13. However, the company has not yet announced plans for the next numbered version of the device software, although Android 15 has already been released, and the first official reports about the next version of the operating system appear.

According to the source, Google will also skip Android TV 15 and will likely focus on an official two-year update cycle. This solution could help TV manufacturers better adapt their devices to the operating system.

But the frequent release of new versions of operating systems does not mean that manufacturers will begin to release firmware updates more actively.

If Android TV moves to a two-year update cycle, the next version of the operating system for smart TVs won’t arrive until 2026.
