Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) is preparing to carry out flight tests of the Sarma aircraft type unmanned aerial vehicle. “Sarma” is designed for agricultural work and cargo delivery. about this reports RBC with reference to Denis Kotin, head of the department of electric drives and automation of industrial facilities at the university.
Kotin said that NSTU, together with SibNIA, named Chaplygin, is preparing to conduct flight tests of the Sarma unmanned aerial vehicle and is going through the certification process. He also noted that the electric motor developed for the aircraft passed all tests successfully.
The wraparound drone was first introduced at the university in May 2024. Sarma has a weight of 155 kg, a wingspan of 12.2 m and a length of 5.2 m. Its flight range is 1200 km and its cruising speed is 100 km/h. Load capacity reaches 120 kg.
A special feature of the drone is the high energy efficiency achieved due to the lack of a pilot, energy-saving aerodynamic design and hybrid power plant. The gasoline engine, together with the electric motor, provides easy take-off and climbing. After takeoff, only the internal combustion engine operates. A powerful generator ensures autonomous operation of electronic systems.
Previously Russian kamikaze drone “Cube” was attacked American armored personnel carrier.
