Professor of RTU MIREA Nanoelectronics Department, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alexey Yurasov speech RT warned Russians that lithium-ion batteries used in smartphones are sensitive to temperature changes. The optimum operating temperature for such batteries is approximately +20 degrees Celsius.
According to the expert, overheating and hypothermia can damage the chemical system of lithium energy storage devices. It recommends that smartphones not be stored in the sun, near radiators and other heat sources, and also warns against using smartphones in sub-zero temperatures, which can significantly reduce energy output.
To ensure the long life of the lithium-ion battery, the expert recommends using it in the temperature range from +0 to +25 degrees Celsius, avoiding overheating and hypothermia. It also recommends charging lithium-ion batteries at temperatures between +5 and +20 degrees Celsius.
The expert emphasized that sub-zero temperatures affect not only the battery but also other components of the smartphone, such as liquid crystal displays (LCD) and organic light-emitting diode displays (OLED), which can lose flexibility and elasticity at low temperatures. .
To prevent your smartphone from shutting down or becoming unstable in the cold, Yurasov recommends keeping the device warm, for example in a pocket or bag, and avoiding sudden temperature changes if possible. He also recommends using a case for additional protection of the device.
The expert recommended making sure the battery is fully charged before going out, as a low battery level makes it more susceptible to cooling.
Russians before warned About errors that lead to malfunctioning and hacking of a smartphone.
