Amazon threatens to fire those unhappy with cancellation of remote work 12:45

Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman took a hard line against remote workers, urging them to either return to the office or quit. The portal reports this TechCrunch.

Garman emphasized that there are other companies offering remote positions for those who don’t like the new five-day office work policy.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy previously announced that starting from 2025, Amazon employees will be required to work full-time in the office.

Previously, Amazon had begun to grapple with the “coffee badge” phenomenon, which meant employees only came into the office for a short time “for show.” The company now tracks how much time employees spend in the office and requires individual teams to be on site for at least six hours per visit.

The largest IT companies are actively abandoning remote and hybrid working. This trend is also observed in the gaming industry. For example, according to journalist Tom Henderson, several Ubisoft Milan employees left the company due to the requirement to work in the office at least three days a week. The reason for this is that employees cannot afford to live in Milan because it is too expensive.
