A new conflict has flared up between Elon Musk and authorities around SpaceX. The California Coastal Commission denied the company’s request to increase the number of Falcon 9 launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base from 36 to 50. Elon Musk expressed his dissatisfaction with his account, saying that his online posts had nothing to do with the “Coastal Commission” in California, and promised to sue the Commission.
In its statement of claim, SpaceX demands that the company’s cooperation with the US Military Space Force be considered a federal program. This would take the California Coastal Commission out of the equation if SpaceX needs to expand its launch schedule.
