Russians warned about the danger of chargers left in sockets 08:00

Many people leave their charger plugged in all the time without thinking about the possible consequences. Experts from the Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center told socialbites.ca why it is important to always disconnect the charger from the network.

If you leave the charger unplugged, it may catch fire or even explode. The risks are minimal, but already this year in Russia there have been cases of fires caused by chargers left on the network. This is due to voltage fluctuations occurring in the home electrical network. They can occur quite frequently and can damage even the most reliable devices.

“Sockets with USB ports are particularly dangerous. In appearance, this is an ordinary socket with the usual round connectors, under which there are rectangular ports – like on chargers. And the “filling” of the outlet is the same as that of the charger. Not only wires but also circuits are hidden under the cover. This means that this is the same power supply, only stationary, that is, a charger left in the socket as always,” warned Sergei Kuzmenko, head of the Roskachestvo Center for Digital Expertise.

Having children at home also increases the need to unplug chargers and keep them out of reach; because the power supply poses a danger even when not used for its intended purpose.

Additionally, many people do not know that chargers left plugged in consume electricity, even if only at a minimum level. This may result in minor additional costs. At the same time, constant connection shortens the life of the charger due to constant heating, which can shorten the service life by several years.

It is stated that high-quality adapters can last up to eight years or even longer if used carefully. If you leave them constantly connected to the network, their service life will be shortened by several years.

Russians before warnedIt was stated that the unclaimed smartphone found may be part of a fraud scheme.
