Police tracked the headphones to a gas station. Although the suspect managed to escape, he was quickly identified through another missing device, his personal iPhone, which he had dropped as he exited the car. The culprit was identified as 22-year-old Dion Shontten of Waterbury, who was arrested and charged with theft of a vehicle.
His accomplice, 19-year-old Keion Webster, was also arrested. During the investigation, it was determined that both suspects took turns driving the stolen car. Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnuolo said Webster currently has seven charges related to auto theft and other crimes.
It was noted that thanks to the car thief’s iPhone being nearby, the headphones left by the car owner in the cabin helped send the exact geographical location to the location application, thus helping to track the Ferrari.
