Women, in comparison with men, almost never violate traffic rules (traffic regulations) on electric scooters. socialbites.ca learned about this from a study conducted on the kick-sharing service MTS Urent.
According to data collected from March 1 to August 31, 2024, the proportion of traffic violations committed by women is only about 15%. To determine the gender of users, integration with the MTS ID service was used, which provides information in encrypted form when verifying the user’s identity via the account phone number.
The most common traffic violations on scooters include improper parking, slowing down at crosswalks, and riding together. In 83 percent of cases, these violations were committed by male accounts. More than 85 percent of the bans on applications for repeated and serious violations also occurred in male accounts. At the same time, riding together is a prominent violation committed by women.
MTS Urent cooperates with law enforcement agencies, city cameras and security consultants to detect violators. Photo and video recording of violations allows us to minimize errors in determining the gender of the perpetrator. Since the start of the current Kicksharing season in Russia, the company has issued about 170 thousand fines and blocked more than 38 thousand user accounts.
