The leading Russian microelectronics manufacturer Mikron, together with QRate, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and with the support of JSC Research and Development Center (R&D), has developed a prototype of a unique software and hardware complex using quantum key distribution technology in any user device. This is the first Russian development that provides complete information protection, both in individual applications and in the entire network mobile infrastructure. socialbites.ca was informed about this by the press service of the Mikron company.
The joint solution of Mikron, TsIR, QRate and MIPT includes a quantum network that enables the generation and transmission of cryptographic keys between geographically distributed private network segments. Using the generated keys, a fully connected, secure network of user mobile devices loaded with special software for secure communication is organized.
The software and hardware complex developed by order of the Research and Development Center consists of the QRate key distribution algorithm, a smart card based on a secure domestic microcontroller “Mikron” and a smartphone software developed by MIPT. A smart card with a pre-distributed quantum-protected master key multiplies and issues to the user device (smartphone) derived session keys that guarantee secure communication. A special messenger installed on the smartphone includes end-to-end encryption using derived session keys during data transfer between subscribers.
The head of the Radiophotonics Department of the National Telecommunications Research Center MIPT, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Stepan Andreev, said that the certification of the complex is planned for the end of 2025. However, the solution is already ready for test operation and development of commercially demanded scenarios for the corporate sector.
Russians before warned about viruses on SIM cards of foreign operators.
