Apple has introduced the base models of the iPhone 16 series smartphones in two versions: iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
The new items received 6.1 and 6.7-inch displays, respectively. It seems that support for a 120 Hz refresh rate did not appear at all – the displays work at 60 Hz.
The design of the smartphones has been updated: the camera block has a pill shape reminiscent of the iPhone X and Xs, with a vertical sensor arrangement. Also under the lock button, a Capture Button appeared to control the camera, and the silent mode switch is replaced by the Action Button from the iPhone 15 Pro. The camera’s touch button allows you to take photos or shoot videos with a single tap or long press, left and right movements control the zoom, and double-tapping the button allows you to perform additional settings.
The main camera of the iPhone 16 is represented by a 48-megapixel sensor, and the ultra-wide-angle module has a resolution of 12 megapixels. The main sensor also has a 2x digital zoom for lossless shooting at 12 MP. In addition, the updated design of the camera block now allows the iPhone 16 to capture spatial video for display in the Apple Vision Pro headset.
The performance of the new products is provided by the 3nm Apple A18 chip with a five-core video chip (GPU) and the support of the Apple Intelligence AI system. According to Apple, the CPU in the iPhone 16 is 30% more powerful than the A16 used in the iPhone 15, and the GPU is 40% more powerful than the A16 used in the iPhone 15.
Apple also talked about the artificial intelligence functions of Apple Intelligence, which was already shown at the WWDC 2024 conference; Apple Intelligence can automatically change the tone of a letter and create emojis, search will help you find photos in the gallery by description, and Siri. will become smarter. Innovations will be available in October and only in beta. In other languages - in 2025. It is not specified whether Russian language support will appear and whether innovations will work in the Russian Federation.
