Chinese regulators ban the sale of certain types of wireless chargers. reports South China Morning Post.
The new restrictions will come into effect on September 1 and apply to wireless chargers used in the aviation sector that operate at banned frequencies that could cause interference, according to a statement from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
From the beginning of autumn, wireless charging stations for gadgets will be able to work only in three permitted ranges: 100-148.5 kilohertz, 6765-6795 kilohertz and 13553-13567 kilohertz. As SCMP journalists emphasize, the ban will primarily affect Apple MagSafe charging stations for iPhone, which operate at a frequency of 360 kilohertz, which is outside the permitted range.
Chinese authorities are also limiting the maximum power of consumer charging stations to 80 W. Under the new rules, imports of chargers that violate the restrictions will be stopped.
