Samsung has introduced its new Odyssey 3D gaming monitor, whose unique feature is the ability to display three-dimensional images without the use of special glasses or accessories. Portal reports this Sammobile.
The Odyssey 3D is the first monitor of its kind in Samsung’s lineup and comes in two sizes: 27 and 37 inches. It features a flat QLED panel with 4K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync Premium support, and a 1ms response time.
The monitor is equipped with two cameras that track the user’s eyes, where special mapping technology transforms a flat image in real time to create a 3D effect. A lenticular lens mounted on the front of the panel displays two slightly different images for each eye, creating a three-dimensional experience.
Samsung says this monitor can play VR games and convert regular 2D content to 3D. If needed, you can switch to 2D mode for office work, using the device as a regular monitor.
The Odyssey 3D features two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, and a height-adjustable stand. Samsung also noted that the Odyssey 3D won the “Best of Innovation” award at CES 2024. The Odyssey 3D’s price and availability have not yet been announced. Rumors suggest the monitor will be available before the end of the year.
