Moscow Tagansky District Court once again imposed a fine on Telegram Messenger. The penalty is reported to be 4 million rubles TASS.
The reason for the administrative penalty was the refusal of the messenger administration to delete information prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The court found Telegram Messenger guilty of violating Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Failure of the site owner to delete information subject to deletion in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation”). The court ruled to impose an administrative fine on the company in the amount of 4 million rubles.
This is not the first time that Telegram has failed to delete information prohibited in the Russian Federation. Since February 2021, the law on self-control of social networks has come into force, according to which Internet platforms must independently identify and block prohibited content. They are also required to provide users with the opportunity to report objectionable content through a special feedback form. Social networks are also required to publish a report on the work done in this area annually.
