Apple is developing plastic smartwatches for kids 11:40

Apple plans to reduce the cost of its budget smartwatch Apple Watch SE 3 by using a plastic case. This solution will allow the new product to compete with existing Samsung models. In addition, the plastic case will help expand the watch’s color gamut, which will make it more attractive to children. Read about it in your new newsletter Power On reported Bloomberg insider and journalist Mark Gurman.

The price drop for the Apple Watch is expected to positively affect sales of all Apple equipment. The calculation is that for many people, cheap watches can become an entry point into the Apple ecosystem, which will lead them to the iPhone and other devices of the brand.

Gurman also said that Apple plans to release updated Watch SE models every two years, so since the Watch SE 2 is set to arrive in 2022, the Watch SE 3 could be expected this year as well.

It hasn’t been reported exactly how much the Apple Watch SE 3 will cost. But it looks like they’ll be cheaper than the current Watch SE 2, for which Apple is asking $250 (about 21.2 thousand rubles at the exchange rate of August 6, 2024).

Previously Apple annoyed Apple Music functionality in Russia.
