A smart MTS solution for automatic electricity metering will be introduced in Novosibirsk 11:12

MTS will install and operate 86.4 thousand smart electricity meters in apartment buildings in the Novosibirsk region over the next three years, the company’s press service reported.

Thus, MTS will act as the data transmission operator for the funding organization Novosibirskenergosbyt.

The company won the competition worth 1.5 billion rubles to create a smart electricity metering system based on a service model based on cloud infrastructure.

MTS will provide supply, installation and maintenance of new “smart” meters for newly built apartment buildings in Novosibirsk and the region, as well as to replace faulty devices whose calibration interval has expired.

The company noted that they plan to use Russian-made smart devices.

MTS will implement its own IoT system for Novosibirskenergosbyt. The solution will show the status of electricity meters in real time, allow you to set parameters for their survey, receive data from them and transfer them to the billing system of Novosibirskenergosbyt.

To connect each IoT device, developers are using energy-efficient communications for the Internet of Things of the latest NB-IoT standard, the largest operator of which is MTS.

The network will provide a stable signal even in places that are difficult to reach by other communication standards, such as basements and ground floors of buildings. In addition, the volume of transmitted data traffic is significantly lower than that of similar solutions on the market, which reduces the operating costs of the accounting system.

Oleg Aldoshin, Vice President of New and Corporate Business Development at MTS, emphasized that MTS undertook to create a complete, complete automated system, which includes software, measuring instruments, data transmission network and data processing centers, as well as service work for installation and operation.

“Smart metering will make the process of collecting electricity bills as transparent as possible, while also enabling online monitoring of the performance of devices and reducing reading costs,” he added.

According to Alexander Mikhailishin, technical director of Novosibirskenergosbyt, smart metering will eliminate the need for residents to transmit electricity meter readings, help reduce costs for general household needs and stop possible illegal connections.
