The exact number of laid-off employees was not disclosed. Software engineer Kenny Croskey and technical manager Corey Ebert are known to have been negatively affected by the restructuring process, which they mentioned on their social networks.

In June of this year, the company announced the layoff of approximately 1,000 employees, including those working on the HoloLens 2 project and in the Azure for Operators and Mission Engineering departments. Previously, it was announced that another 1.9 thousand employees would be laid off in the Activision Blizzard and Xbox divisions. As a result, Blizzard President Mike Ibarra and co-founder Allen Adam left the company.

During the pandemic, the company’s staff was replenished with new employees, but by the end of 2023, Microsoft employed about 227 thousand people, which is 5 thousand less than in 2022.
