Author of YouTube channel Max Tech compared MacBook Pro laptops with the latest Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 equipped with the Snapdragon X Elite ARM chip, powered by the Apple M3 Pro chip.
As a result of the comparison, the Snapdragon X Elite showed comparable results to the M3 Pro in a number of tests. Especially in Geekbench and Cinebench 2024, the difference between them is minimal. But the MacBook Pro performs significantly better in most other applications.
For example, in Blender the performance difference is by an order of magnitude, and this is due to this software’s lack of support for Windows on Arm. In other programs, the Qualcomm platform lags behind by about two to three times. Additionally, the Apple M3 Pro has an integrated graphics chip that is two or more times more powerful.
Also, the MacBook Pro has a faster SSD. Also, the Apple laptop shows that the case heats up less, but the processors themselves heat up about the same.
But Qualcomm’s solution is not a direct competitor to Apple M3 Pro, but an analogue of M2 or M3. At the same time, the price of MacBook Pro starts at $ 2000, and the price of Surface Laptop 7 starts at $ 1400.
