The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation (Mindigits) plans to introduce a procedure for interregional transfer of mobile phone numbers from operator to operator. The Ministry stated that, on the recommendation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, they are discussing with participants in the communications market the issue of operator-to-operator transfer of numbers between regions. Thus, Russians will have the opportunity to maintain their numbers when moving to another part of the country.
The newspaper reminded that number transfer from one telecom operator to another in Russia has been in effect since 2013. However, now subscribers can only port a number in their region.
Legislation that will simplify the transfer procedure is currently being finalized. They have successfully completed the test version.
