The state-owned company “Rostec” had problems with the integration of the Russian mobile processor “Skif” in the new smartphone AYYA T2. Specifically, there were problems with the supply of processors as they were produced at TSMC’s facilities, but production was halted in March. The factory itself stopped cooperating with Russia due to sanctions.
In addition, there are problems with ready-made chips. It turned out that on test tasks, the processor simply overheated, which made work on the project more difficult. The company explained that the testing of AYYA T2 is going according to plan, but Rostec’s representative did not comment on the technical issues.
It was previously intended that AYYA T2 would be released in 2022, the company spoke about that. But given the problems that have arisen, the timing has not yet been determined. The first model, AYYA T1, is available for 9,990 rubles, but it is not bought very well.
As for the “Skif”, it roughly corresponds to the level of the iPhone 6 processor.
