Yesterday, May 7, Apple introduced new iPad Pro and iPad Air models with 10 hours of battery life, and this was a disappointment for some users. The fact is that both tablets received more energy-efficient processors than previous models (in the case of the iPad Pro, the screen also consumed less energy), but this did not affect the performance of the batteries. “iPad Pro is powered by the M4 chip, built on a second-generation 3-nanometer process, and has six efficient cores, two more than the M2. Additionally, the device comes with a more efficient OLED screen. However, these improvements did not impact battery life,” MacRumors writes.
The battery of the 11-inch iPad Pro has a capacity of 31.29 Wh, which is higher than the 28.65 Wh battery of the previous generation model. The 13-inch iPad Pro’s battery has a capacity of 38.99 Wh, slightly lower than the previous model’s 40.88 Wh.
iPad Air also has an improved battery. The eleven-inch model has a capacity of 28.93 Wh, slightly more than the previous 10.9-inch version (28.6 Wh). The new 13-inch model is equipped with a 36.59 Wh battery.
Apple says the iPad Pro and iPad Air models last up to 10 hours when surfing the web or watching videos over Wi-Fi, but battery life drops to nine hours when using cellular.
