Roskomnadzor (RKN) added the Steam gaming platform community website (steamcommunity.com) to the list of banned sites. In this respect reports Telegram channel Baza.
The service was blocked based on the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs dated February 22, 2024. Due to the Steam Community being blocked, players in Russia may lose access to their profiles, friends lists, as well as the Workshop and Marketplace.
The reason for restricting access to the site was not disclosed. However, Baza reminded that in 2015, Roskomnadzor had already included Steam in the list of banned sites.
The Telegram channel writes: “According to a representative of the ministry, the playground was blocked due to a page “where 20 reasons for using drugs were published.”
Steam is an American distribution service for digital copies of computer games. It was released by Valve in 2003. By the end of 2023, Steam was used by more than 130 million people monthly worldwide, making it the most popular platform in its niche.
