Selected the best smartphones in the mid-budget segment

Engadget Portal Edition selected best mid-range smartphones and determined the winners in several categories.

Google Pixel 5a 5G was the winner in the Best Mid-Range Android Smartphone category. According to Engadget, with a cost of $ 450 (about 25.5 thousand rubles), the smartphone has many distinctive features. Thus, Pixel 5a 5G is equipped with the best cameras among its competitors, a 4680 mAh battery, the 5G module is also protected from water and dust according to the IP67 standard, and will be among the first to receive Android updates.

The Pixel 5a 5G’s shortcomings include an outdated Snapdragon 765G chipset and a display with a 60Hz refresh rate.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G was named the best screen mid-range smartphone by Engadget. Samsung’s new product is equipped with a 6.5 inch Super AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate support. Other highlights include a 5,000mAh battery and a versatile camera system.

The only downside to the Galaxy A53 5G is the Exynos 1280 chipset, which isn’t much of an improvement over its predecessor.

According to Engadget, the third generation iPhone SE is the only and best iPhone in the middle segment. According to the editors of the portal, this is the fastest smartphone that can be bought for less than $ 600 (about 34 thousand rubles). Despite all its advantages, the iPhone SE has an older IPS display with some of the largest bezels in a modern device.

According to Engadget, the OnePlus Nord N200 is considered the best among budget smartphones under $ 200 (about 11.3 thousand rubles). The smartphone is equipped with a large 5000 mAh battery, 90 Hz display, and 5G support, providing all-day use.

However, the editorial staff of the portal notes that when it comes to ultra-budget smartphones, it is worth paying the extra, as such devices have many disadvantages among more expensive competitors. So, for example, the filling of the Nord N200 cannot boast of high performance and good cameras. Also, OnePlus has no plans to update the smartphone above Android 12. Therefore, the OnePlus N200 will not last as long as other smartphones on the Engadget list.
