Polish inventor Paweł Zadrożniak created a third version of the device called Floppotron. This is a kind of electronic orchestra, which consists of floppy disk drives, hard drives and scanners.
He started the project in 2011, when the first version consisted of two discs and could only play the Imperial March from Star Wars.
The second version appeared in 2016 and consisted of 64 drives, 8 hard drives and 2 scanners. This unit can play more complex compositions.
Finally the third version has appeared. It contains the following components:
- 512 floppy disk drives – they are responsible for low frequencies;
- 16 hard drives – rhythm, beats and clicks;
- 4 scanners – responsible for high frequencies.
Pavel’s YouTube channel has other videos on this topic.🚇 Fans made a movie based on the Metro 2033 universe
