The security system of the Google Play application store began to identify the Russian navigation service 2GIS as malicious. With reference to “2GIS” developers on this subject reports TASS.
According to the agency, users of the Russian service began to receive warnings from Google Play that the program was unsafe. In particular, the store’s security system claims that 2GIS is trying to access personal data such as SMS, photos, voice recordings and call recordings.
2GIS developers denied information about the insecurity of their application. The company of the same name claims that the service is completely reliable and poses no threat to users.
“2GIS” is temporarily unavailable in this app store starting May 2023. The developers said that these notifications are only related to Google’s rules and are the same for all applications that are temporarily unavailable on Google Play.
They also explained that the app needs access to the microphone and call recording so that users can voice control the service and search for companies on maps directly from the 2GIS app.
Hackers before sent 5 terabytes of Russian data into the network.
