Social network X (formerly Twitter) plans to reform its subscription model and increase profitability. This was stated by the company’s CEO Linda Yaccarino at a meeting with creditors. reports Bloomberg.
So X plans to split its premium subscription, which currently costs $8, into three levels: Basic, Standard and Plus. Subscribing to the first tariff will not affect the amount of advertising in any way, in the second its display will be halved, and in the most expensive option, ads will be completely excluded from the user’s stream.
The subscription split will help the company reach balance in the second half of 2024, Yaccarino said. He noted that X has already made a profit without taking into account debt servicing costs of $13 billion.
News of three subscription levels was confirmed by one of the X users who mentioned them in the code of the iPhone app. This suggests that X is preparing to launch a new subscription model soon.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, has already proposed introducing a mandatory fee for accessing the service for all users. According to him, this will help in the fight against bots.
