Russians began to steal food more often in stores

From February to April 2022, cases of theft in Russian stores increased markedly. With reference to the data of the NTechLab video analysis systems developer, on this topic reported RBC edition.

An average of 130 thefts were recorded in a store during the specified period; this is 18% more than in February-April 2021. We are talking not only about grocery supermarkets, but also about clothing stores, children’s goods, household goods and much more.

However, analysts still chose the grocery category, as theft is developing especially brightly in them. For example, the company noted that products are often stolen literally by baskets. There were 27% more such cases.

In addition, the average amount of damage done to shops by thieves at one time reached 1.5 thousand rubles, which is 25% more than a year ago. This year, cybercriminals are particularly active in retrieving goods from self-service safes: Such cases are 34% more.
